Auto Express have taken a couple of my favourite cars for a spin, the new LV Focus ST and the Vauxhall Astra VXR Nurburgring edition.
As touched upon previously, the new LV Focus ST is essentially a design upgrade although it does sport some new touches with keyless entry and starter ignition button.
The VXR Nurburgring major tweaks include cosmetic updates such as carbon fibre accents internally, a brilliant white skin including 18″ alloys, chequered decals and an acoustic upgrade with a Remus sports exhaust.
Both are in the top echelon of the hot hatch race making each review well worth a quick squiz alongside plenty of pictures.
In this month’s EVO (issue #119) they put the Renaultsport Megane 175 dCi up against one of the best petrol hot hatches on the market today the Focus ST.

Following the designs from the Verve concept and the new Mondeo, Ford have updated the looks of the Focus ST (XR5). The changes are purely cosmetic. We’ll have to wait for the RS for something more spicy.
The fordxr5turbo.com crew are eagerly awaiting the arrival of one these onto Australian shores. It shouldn’t be too long now.

| Following on the general theme over the last few days, the Ford Verve Concept has been offiically released at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Unfortunately it’s too early in the piece to be seeing any tanglible facts and figures available. The Verve Concept can certainly be reviewed in all it’s glory though as a visually masterpiece. The Verve will Ford’s next global car with variants evolving for the European, Asian and American (yes it’s going to the US) markets. | ||||||

| Whilst officially set for launch on the 24th of August it appears the cat has been let out of the bag (thanks CarScoop) regarding the all new Ford Fiesta Concept. Set to be officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Fiesta styling clearly follows the recent Mondeo and S-Max styling coming from Ford Europe. Naturally we can expect the final production Fiesta’s styling to to be toned down, still it’s as a great base platform to work with. | ||
| Let’s hope the new platform continues to delivers the chassis dynamics and fun factor to an all new Fiesta ST platform, a great all round hot hatch. Further images circulating from a German magazine with real images confirming the styling can be found on the follow through. | ||
