I didn’t expect that Porsche may become the next entrant to the Hot Hatch market. Never the less we now have a couple of images indicating that Porsche is leveraging the VW Golf relationship further.

AutoBild, a German magazine has further detail on the new hot hatch slated for release in 2012. An AWD Porsche studded super luxury hot hatch can’t be all bad can it?

The larger image from the magazine is available on the click through.

Volkswagen have announced the release of the Golf GT Sport, a platform that has peaked most hatch lovers interest with the 1.4L twincharged engine. An amalgamation of the Golf GT and the Golf Sport, the GT sport features a number of highlights to up the excitement factor.

Golf GT Sport

17″ multi-spoke ‘ClassiXs’ alloy wheels fitted with 225/45 R17 tyres provide a more aggressive stance whilst front styling born from the GTI and R32 platform add to the character of the GT Sport. Available in the 1.4L TSI or 2.0L TDI with the full range of platform options such as 2 / 4 door and 6 speed manual / DSG transmission, the GT Sport is going to sell quite well.

The supercharged and turbocharged 1.4L engine really does present an interesting option for buyers looking for a small car with a frugal engine and some considerable seat of the pants performance. The GT Sport really could present the best of both worlds.

Full press release after the jump.

The latest episode of Fifth Gear sports a less than impressive attempt at reviewing the latest 7 Hottest of Hatches available across Europe.

A full line up consisting of the *breathe in* Seat Leon Cupra, Mazda 3 MPS, Astra VXR, Golf GTI Edition 30, Civic Type-R, Megane Renaultsport 230 F1 Team R36 (or something similar) and the Ford Focus ST would stir most Hot Hatch admirers.

Unfortunately Tom Ford and Jonny Smith drew some rather quick conclusions and whittled it down to the Golf GTI Edition 30 vs the Ford Focus ST. The good news, Tiff Needell then got busy on the track for a final conclusion.

Twas May 1983 when the Pirelli-GTI first appeared, now at Wörthersee 2007 we see the MkV Golf GTI Edition 30 take on the Pirelli treatment.

Officially coined the Volkswagen Golf GTI Pirelli Edition, the main attraction is the Pirelli Titanium coloured 18″ rims sporting Pirelli P-Zeros. You’ll also spot the decorative finery internally with Pirelli accents and colour coded highlights.

The Golf GTI W12 650 Concept unveiled recently @ Wörthersee 2007 set the crowd alight and rightly so. Powered by a mid-mounted 6.0-litre 12 cylinder bi-turbo engine delivering figures of 650Hp @ 6,000 rpm / 750Nm @ 4.500 rpm, the GTI W12 hunts down 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 3.7 sec with a redline popping top speed of 325km/h (202 mph).

Extensive modifications including a lower and broader body than the stock GTI, additional air vents to cool the massive engine and the specially designed roof set an aggressive stance whilst still being respectful to the current Golf GTI.
